Too much fat, particularly around the abdominal area, can lead to serious health issues like high blood pressure, diabetes, strokes and even some forms of cancer. To build muscle, protein is a must have. Using protein shakes is also very helpful to get what you need. Lean beef, chicken, turkey and fish are all good. Also add eggs and whey protein to your diet. Complex carbohydrates include oatmeal, fresh fruit, brown rice, whole grains and sweet potatoes. Healthy fats are olive oil, natural peanut butter, flaxseed oil, avocados, nuts and seeds.
Your body needs more fuel early on in the day so eat carbs for breakfast. Eat lighter meals later in the day. You can help your muscle building along if you have a light protein snack or shake before bed together with 2 tablespoons of flaxseed oil.
Walking is a simple exercise to lose excess weight. Thirty minutes a day will really make a difference. Be sure to hold in your abs. You can also swing your arms and hold your glutes in tight. Do pushups and chinups as well. These are good basic exercises where you are using your body weight to strengthen yourself. After you get the basic routine down, you can add more weight training in to build more muscle.
